The Subaru Elephant Rock Cycling Festival is the unofficial start to the Colorado cycling season.  You will not want to miss the excitement and camaraderie of the 23rd annual pilgrimage to Castle Rock for the Rocky Mountain region's premier cycling festival, a Rocky Mountain tradition.

Whether you are six or sixty, prefer to ride on the road or the dirt, there is a course for cyclists of all abilities. All of the rides start and finish at The Douglas County Fair Grounds in Castle Rock. After a day in the saddle, plan to stick around for the Party at the Rock post-ride picnic and cycling expo. Whichever course you choose, you're sure to have a Erockin' good time,

Or, Kick-off the weekend by joining solos & teams at beautiful Greenland Open Space for the 5th annual GO FAST 24 HOURS of EROCK.


Important Rock Info
Helmets are required for all rides. Please ride safely, lawfully and considerately! All cyclists are required to follow all traffic law and regulations.

For the 100 and 62 mile courses – you MUST be 14 years of age or older.

Tagalong bike trailers and burley style trailers are NOT permitted on the 100 and 62 courses

In addition to a great experience riding some of Colorado's most scenic miles, each participant will receive:

All riders will receive a bike number and wristbands. You must wear your event wristband at all times. Your wristband will give you access to the courses and refreshments at the aid stations as well as act as your ticket to the BBQ lunch and prize drawings at the post party. 

Your bike number should be attached to the top tube of your bike.  Colorado State Patrol has the authority to remove anyone without a bike number off the course you could face potential criminal charges

* If you register early you can choose to pick up your packets at several bike shops in the Front Range or at the event.


Start Times
The 2010 Subaru Elephant Rock start, finish, expo and party will once again take place at the Events Center at the Douglas County Fair Grounds just a half-mile south east of downtown Castle Rock.   Click here for a map.

*Please note that all start times are recommended, However, based on when aid stations are open and when support is available on the course, you may leave anytime during these timesThe 100 and 62 milers must start by 8:00 a.m. and the 34, 25 and 7 milers must start by 9:30 a.m.!

Party at the Rock
It's a picnic, a party and an expo all in one. Whether you are riding or just watching the fun, come explore the active expo area where you'll learn more about the sport of cycling from industry leaders like Giant, Shimano, ShaverSport, Rudy Project, Hammer Gel, SOS Socks, Clif Bar and JDS Sport coaching to name just a few. Enjoy an awesome, healthy lunch included in your registration fee. Sample products, mingle with friends and listen to rockin’ tunes pumped out by KBCO.

 

New for 2010, the Subaru Elephant Rock and Zero Hero have teamed up for better recycling and waste management. We will be shooting for 85% "zero waste"!  Which mean's 85 % of all waste generated, MUST stay out of the landfill*.  The program includes adding a compost and recycling option along with trash, forming a green team and purchasing environmental friendly products.

Merchandise
All items ordered from the application or on Active.com will only be available for you to pick up at the registration area the morning of the ride or the merchandise tent next to the stage in the expo.  A limited quantity of these commemorative items are available – so order early!


Rest - Aid - Fun Stations
Fresh fruit, water and energy replacing snacks will be available at each the rest stops positioned every 10-18 miles throughout each of the courses. 

Great Prizes
As always, loads of prize drawings will take place at the Subaru Party at the Rock. Giant bicycles, ShaverSport cycling apparel, Rudy Project sunglasses and helmets, are just a few of the prizes you could win at the expo.


Sag Wagons
Sag wagons will rove each of the courses with water and road assistance to help riders experiencing mechanical trouble or those who become too fatigued to finish. Please be prepared to handle your own flats and minor repairs. the Colorado State Patrol, The Douglas County Sheriff's Department, the El Paso County Sheriffs Department, and the Castle Rock Police Department will be on hand to make sure your ride is safe and enjoyable.

Camping
Camping is available at the Douglas County Fair Grounds on Saturday night for both tent camping and RV camper parking. Check-in is between 4 and 8 p.m. Indoor showers will be available in the Events Center from 7 p.m. on Saturday night until 8 a.m. on Sunday morning. The cost is $20 per tent site or RV spot.
