CAMPING
Camping is available from Friday, 1 pm -Sunday, 11 am. TEAMS/SOLO’S MUST KNOW THEIR TEAM NAME & TEAM SIZE UPON ARRIVAL, AS THEY WILL BE DIRECTED TO PARKING/CAMPING BASED ON THAT INFORMATION.

ALL Camping will be available adjacent to the transition area as described on the course map. ALL Campsites are within 10-150 yards of the start/finish/party area. Solo’s and 2-3 person teams are parked closest to the S/F. They may choose to car camp or place their campsite near the trail (you will be directed to appropriate locations).
Please be considerate of others and only take the space you need. Parking staff will be available to assist you in parking and camping beginning at 1 pm, Friday. Please do not arrive earlier than 1 pm, as the Trailhead area will be closed until that time and staff will be unavailable.
Camping will be first come, first served beginning at 1 pm. AGAIN, PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE PRIOR TO 1 PM as the parking staff will not be in place and NO TEAMS will be allowed to set-up. We will limit solo’s/2-3 person teams to an “approximate” 10x10 camping area and 4-5/6-8 person teams to an “approximate” 20x20 camping area (both area’s refer to tents, bikes, equipment). Don’t worry, as we will work to accommodate every team so please assist the staff by planning accordingly. Please follow the instructions of the parking crew and event staff, as they will attempt to position teams so that everyone has plenty of space.
Car camping, small RV’s and trailers on pick-ups are acceptable.
PARKING
Carpooling is encouraged, as parking by your campsite will be limited-if you are car camping (pick-up shell, small RV, etc) as part of your team camping, we will allow a vehicle in your area. This is open space and camping is only allowed by the Douglas County Open Space & Trails Dept. for this event, so there are no “specific” camping sites that you would normally find at a state park.
If you are planning to leave during the event and you are delivering equipment, and once you have “off loaded” your camping site, your vehicle will be directed to a vehicle only parking area. You will asked to do so quickly and then park your vehicle, so as to not cause traffic issues for others. Please understand that this is to discourage vehicles from “coming & going” through a camping area as everyone is using the open space to camp.
Please do not plan to have a “car camping” vehicle move once you have parked in or near your camping area. We don’t want vehicles dodging tents, bikes and most importantly participants. Please pack your vehicles accordingly as the vehicle only parking is an easy 25-100 yards of any campsite.
When arriving and departing the Open Space area, please keep your speed down as we want to be good neighbors and this also keeps the “dust down” as it is a dirt road once you exit I-25.
OTHER INFO
NO ELECTRICITY IS AVAILABLE for hook-ups. The electricity that is available will be used by the event.
COOKING-you may cook at your camping area with liquid gases only-NO OPEN FIRE OR CHARCOAL. PLEASE NOTE-if a no burn policy is implemented by the sheriff‚s department, you will not be allowed to do the above, so please plan for both hot and cold food. Park Rangers will speak to this at the pre-race meeting.
The event will supply complimentary refreshments after the event to all REGISTERED RIDERS ONLY-please no family, support, etc.

If you bring children, please be aware that the railroad tracks adjacent to the open space is “off limits” to them and all participants. In the past, we have had to remove children placing pennies on the tracks-not only is this dangerous (as trains come by at regular intervals) but it is also illegal.
Please keep in mind pets at events are becoming an increasing problem. We strongly urge you to leave your pet at home during this event, as not everyone is comfortable around animals. PLEASE INFORM YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY! If you still choose to bring a pet, they are to be leashed at all time’s as this is state law. Rangers will write tickets to those that do not comply. If ANY pet causes a problem on the course, or in the open space, the pet and it's owner will be asked to leave for the duration of the event. Also, NO pets will be allowed in the finisher party area (food service). There is now a 17 acre “DOG PARK” adjacent to the open space that you are welcome to use-please use this location instead of area’s that the event employs. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Weather
A word about weather-you will be camping at 6900 ft. Be prepared for a “chilly” evenings as temperatures are normally in the low 40’s at night and mid 70’s during the day.
JKF Catering
This year, we will have JKF Catering on site to aid in your food planning. They will begin serving Friday, 1 pm and will serve into the early evening. On Saturday, breakfast service begins at 5 am and they will be open until 3 pm (Wahoo's will once again be providing post-event refreshments). Please view their menu and help support their business as they will working hard to serve your needs-thanks!!
We look forward to everyone having a great time and appreciate your cooperation in making this a fun & safe event.
Please thank the staff of the Douglas County Parks, Trails, and Open space for allowing us to use this fine facility.
